Thankful Thursday – Linda and Fred Lentz

On this Thankful Thursday, I am very thankful for the presence of Linda and Fred Lentz in my life. I am not sure whether I first met Fred through First Baptist Church or the Optimist Club of Charleston. Fred is a stalwart at Stuhrs Funeral Chapels and was helpfulness itself when my mother and wife died. Linda is a superb teacher in the Charleston County Schools and holds national certification which is a major accomplishment. This year she is at the Charleston School of the Arts. She is also an excellent Sunday school teacher. Both have served on the diaconate at FBC. Both are always cheerful and eager to lend assistance any way they can. Fred usually oversees the Optimist Club Oratorical Contests for middle school students. On this Thankful Thursday, I am happy that Fred and Linda Lentz are part of my life.

Thankful Thursday is a day set aside to recognize the importance of someone to our lives and to let her or him know of our gratitude. Develop an attitude of gratitude. Say Something Nice; Be a lifter. You will be glad that you did.

Thankful Thursday – Wesley Gwinn

On this Thankful Thursday, I am grateful for the gifts that Wesley Gwinn brings to my life. Wesley is the son of my late nephew, Danny, and Denise. Wesley is the kind of son who would make any parent proud. He is an excellent student, well spoken, respectful, interested and interesting. He is a junior at Appalachian State University, but currently is an intern at the Heritage Foundation in Washington.  Although a very conservative foundation, the experience will give him an opportunity to rub shoulders with students from all over the country. He will also get to hear and meet a lot of the movers and shakers in Washington. He is very interested in politics and this summer will do an internship with Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina. He has already been featured in some safety commercials on television targeting teenage drivers. Wesley has a broad range of interests and is a good conversationalist. On this Thankful Thursday, I am very thankful for my great nephew, Wesley Gwinn.
