Carol and I were married 14 years ago today in First Baptist Church of Charleston. Dr. John Hamrick, Dr. Tom Guerry and Dr. Monty Knight tied a good knot that day. Dianna McBroom sang, “The Lord’s Prayer.” My granddaughter, Christina was the beautiful flower girl. Carol’s daughter, Tawnya, and my daughter, Suzanne, were the Maids of Honor. My son, Michael, was my best man. Carol asked our dear friend, Mary Peeples, to act as mother of the bride because Carol’s mother was in a nursing home in Michigan. There was a wonderful reception in the Fellowship Hall followed by a carriage ride.  Anne Fox kept the whole thing moving with great skill and thoughtfulness. After a night at Middleton, we were off to England, Scotland and Wales.

What a marvelous beginning for 14 years and counting of happiness and fulfillment.
