Thankful Thursday – Mayor Joe Riley

On this Thankful Thursday, I am grateful for the gifts that Joe Riley brings to my life. Mayor Riley was very helpful to the Charleston Speech and Hearing Center while I was its President/CEO. He has also been very supportive of Say Something Nice Day. What really distinguishes the mayor is his vision for Charleston coupled with his extraordinary leadership abilities. Time after time he has been confronted with unrelenting challenges, but he has found a way to accomplish his goals. No one can doubt his love for this city. No one is indispensable, but frankly I see no one on the political horizon who is capable of providing his kind of enlightened leadership. Charleston has become a world class city. It was already one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is an exciting place to live. Carol and I just missed hearing his speech at the Chautauqua Institution last year; however, judging by all the reports we received, it must have been wonderful. We read it in the Chautauqua Daily. The mayor has earned a well deserved national/international reputation. On this Thankful Thursday, I am grateful for all the gifts that Joe Riley brings to my life.

Thankful Thursday is a day set aside to recognize the importance of someone to our lives and to let her or him know of our gratitude. Develop an attitude of gratitude. Say Something Nice; Be a Lifter. You will be glad that you did.
