Today on this Thankful Thursday I am thankful for Anne Pooser. Anne is one of the most fun people to be around that I know. She was an accomplished newspaper woman both in Birmingham and Charleston. She is a thorough researcher and writer. Anne and her late husband, Gil, were members of the Sunday school class that I led for years at First Baptist Church in Charleston. She always had in-depth information that no one else had. Gil always delighted us with some really thoughtful and not ordinary questions which resulted in spirited discussions. They both were great comforts to me when my late wife, Liz, was in intensive care. Anne is an encourager. She has the great discipline to see the best in everyone. On this Thankful Thursday I am thankful for Anne Pooser. Her presence in my life is a gift from God. Anne is 91 years old. I have her permission to tell you that. Anne is a graduate of Howard College now Samford University.

Thankful Thursday is a day to be thankful for the presence of some special person in your life. Let him or her know. Call her or him on the telephone. Send a special note by snail mail or send an E-mail. It does not matter how you do it. Just do it before you get distracted by other things.
