On this Thankful Thursday, I am thankful for my friend Arla Holroyd. Before moving to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, she was a very successful and beloved teacher in Rock Hill. She was friends with my high school principal, Wilbur Livingston, who had become registrar at Winthrop. I met Arla in those days when I was trying to learn to dance. Arla loves the waltz and was willing to tolerate my efforts. She is a gracious hostess and enjoyed entertaining many of the artists participating in the Southeastern Wildlife Expo. She is a fixture at the French Huguenot Church where she enjoys giving the tours. I am sure that it was Arla who proposed my name for the organ dedication at Mt. Herman RMUE Church. She is an avid journal keeper and photographer. She chronicles all the events in her life. Most of all she enjoys meeting her former students when they show up in Charleston. As you might guess, she is a fascinating conversationalist. On this Thankful Thursday I am blessed that Arla Holroyd is a part of my life.
Thankful Thursday is a day set aside to recognize someone who is important to your life. Who are you thankful for today? Let her or him know of your gratitude. Develop an attitude of gratitude. Say Something Nice. You will be glad that you did.
