LucileOn this Thankful Thursday I am thankful for the presence of Lucille MacLennan in my life. Lucille grew up in Anderson, South Carolina and graduated from Agnes Scott College.  She returned to Anderson to teach at Girl’s High School. She met Mac while engaged to someone else. They were married and eventually moved to North Charleston where they built a house. They later moved to the Crescent and built a larger duplicate of the North Charleston house. They sold that North Charleston house to a young Presbyterian minister and his wife – Bob and Rose Boston. Lucille still has close ties with the Bostons. She is an avid gardener with a very green thumb, teaches Sunday school at First Baptist Church and is a supporter of Charles Colson’s Prison Ministry. She reads constantly and can discuss almost any subject in depth. She is a remarkably young and energetic 91 years young (July 30). She loves the choir and organ at FBC. Her opinions are often very different from what you might think they would be. Lucille always comes down on the side of grace and charity. She has such a zest for living, such an inquisitive mind and such a spirit of adventure that you hope you will meet her as you go through your day. She is a breath of fresh air. On this Thankful Thursday, I am grateful to have Lucille MacLennan in my life. The picture is used with the permission of Merv Gibson, photographer.

Thankful Thursday is a day set aside to recognize the importance of someone to our lives and to let her or him know of our gratitude. Develop an attitude of gratitude. Say Something Nice; Be a Lifter. You will be glad that you did.
