On this Thankful Thursday, I am grateful for the Sanctuary Choir of First Baptist Church of Charleston, South Carolina. Praise for the music at First Baptist is nothing new. It has been praised since 1851.

The quality and range of the music is outstanding: however, my love for the choir stems from how it helps me worship. I always feel closer to God when the choir sings whether it is accompanied by the magnificent sounds from the organ or from the Steinway piano.

I have great respect for these dedicated volunteers who show up week after week for rehearsals and the worship services. In college I thought I needed and easy enjoyable course. I enrolled in a music appreciation course. Much to my surprise and horror, it was far from easy, but it started me  on a wonderful journey. Over the years I have developed a deep appreciation for the great music of the church. The choir at First Baptist nourishes my soul and deepens that appreciation.

Thankful Thursday is a day set aside to recognize the contributions of someone to our lives and to let her or him know of our gratitude. Develop and attitude of gratitude. Say Something Nice; Be a Lifter. You will be glad that you did.
