I knew Chuck first when he worked with the Salvation Army. Before that he had directed a program for children with disabilities in Florida. Over the past several years Chuck has worked as a cab driver with Yellow Cab. Recently, after many health problems, he switched to another company. Chuck is wonderful as a taxi driver, but his abilities go way beyond that. He is well read, extremely well informed, a humanitarian, and a great story teller. Many years ago he became a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. We have long since passed the driver/passenger relationship. We are friends who enjoy each other’s company. In the distance between my house and Webster University, we can usually solve all of the world’s major problems. Today I am glad to say that this Thursday I am thankful for Chuck Rector.
Thankful Thursday is my answer to Thirsty Thursday. Every Thursday choose someone that you are thankful for and let him or her know it. You will be glad that you did.

Mitch,
Your wisdom and positivity never cease to amaze me! What a wonderful idea to let someone else know how important they are to you, just our of the blue and for no real reason than to honor them. I hope this idea catches on and more people take the time to be outwardly thankful for others.

Mitch,
I’m hoping this note finds you well.
I believe you are thankful for the Chuck Rector my husband and I are looking for.
He’s known as “Grandpa Chuck” in our home. 19-20 years ago he was a yellow cab driver and adopted us as family. He came after the birth of our daughter and I have treasured pictures of him with our children. We lost touch after military moves and before cell phones, etc. I called yellow cab to find him and they shared he was no longer a driver.
We’d search his name now and then, but without luck.
I remember he had a daughter…but haven’t been able to find him.
We’d love to reconnect with him or his family and share our admiration and memories. Please contact me if you have any information.
-With Gratitude
Marie
