Dr. Tom McKibbens, retired pastor of the First Baptist Church of Worcester, MA has accepted the call as interim pastor at the First Baptist Church of Providence, Rhode Island which is the first Baptist church in America. The church was founded by Roger Williams. The church building sits on a hill overlooking the city. It has a tremendous spire and is simply beautiful. In addition to being an outstanding pastor, he is a recognized historian. Tom is a favorite speaker at First Baptist Church of Charleston. He contributed a chapter to my book, Christian Civility in an Uncivil world. He and Donna, his wife, are good friends. Donna also retired from her career as a college administrator. What a great match this is to have a Baptist historian serving the First Baptist Church in America.

I’m pastor at First Baptist Church of Camarillo, CA. I am working on a book on A History of Baptist in America. John Finley said you would be a good person to get in touch with. The book has 50 biographies/cameo’s that are short surveys of famous Baptists in chronological order. We start with Roger Williams and end up at Rick Warren. I have 2 sections of Baptists from 1638-1800 and 1800 to the present. We also look as some confessions and happenings that have shaped Baptist. I have a profile picture of every person (which I hope to get permission to use from various sources). I am having a tough time coming with a picture for Morgan Edwards. I thought I had one from Brown University’s history of the school page and it was Ezra Stiles. Does such a drawing of him exist anywhere? I would welcome any information about a picture. I already have the biography done. If I don’t find a picture I can use the cover for his book on Baptist History. I have been searching for a picture out there and so far have found nothing.
